 Here at Pecan Meadows Ranch, our puppies have lots of room to run and play.  We have plenty of shade, lots of flowers, and a great pond for fishing.   All of which makes for a great start for our puppies.  They love splashing in the pond, playing under the giant Oak and Pecan trees, as well as  chasing crickets and frogs from the gardens. 

      Located in the beautiful Texoma area -- 90 miles north of Dallas and 110 miles south of Oklahoma City--, we are a small family of Dachshund lovers. The entire family cares for our dogs, including the children.  We feel it is important that the puppies be well socialized with children.

      All of our babies are AKC babies.  It is our opinion that the AKC is the best registry with the most stringent inspections.  They also require DNA testing of stud dogs; therefore, is our preferred method of registration.  We do prefer to sell our puppies as pet only unless other arrangements have been made.     Our puppies do not leave for their forever homes until they are eight weeks of age or older.  They will have their dew claws removed, be current on their vaccinations and wormings.  They are weaned to a high quality puppy food.  

      We have also started a new program of Early Neurological Stimulation for our newborn puppies.  Using the Bio Sensor/Super Dog Program which is early neurological stimulation exercises done from days three to sixteen of the puppies life, we hope to give our puppies a superior advantage.

      The U.S. Military in their canine program developed this method that still serves as a guide to what works. In an effort to improve the performance of dogs used for military purposes, a program called "Bio Sensor" was developed. Later, it became known to the public as the "Super Dog" Program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects. Their studies confirmed that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results. The first period involves a window of time that begins at the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth day. It is believed that because this interval of time is a period of rapid neurological growth and development, and therefore is of great importance to the individual. We are implementing these neurological exercises into our routine puppy care.  It is our hope to give our puppies every advantage possible and we do not want to miss this small window of opportunity to improve the lives of our puppies.  We want them to excel in all that they do rather it is in the show ring, doing therapy work, running an agility course, hunting, chasing a ball (rabbit or squirrel at our home), or just walking around the block by your side. We believe in giving these babies every advantage that we can.

      We also compete in AKC confirmation events with some of our dogs.  We have found this sport to be a very rewarding for both the handler and the dog.  Please see our Show Page for details.

      Some of our dogs have their Canine Good Citizenship award through the AKC.  Two of these dogs, Gracie and Rhett II, do therapy work at a local retirement community.

      We are proud members of the AKC sanctioned Sooner Dachsund Club of Oklahoma.  We are also members of the Texoma Kennel Club  and can be found at their many pot-luck suppers! Thanks to Dr. Mills for being our sponsor!
